Erica and Jacquline got of very early to watch the sunrise and found themselves surrounded by hundreds of tiny hermit crabs. Unfortunately, they didn't wake me up so I missed the 'crab encounter' which they documented with a series of amazing photos. As soon as they got back, Erica and I got packed up with a few things to stay over in Ebeye. Went over, Julian picked us up and took us to that place with the chickens to meet someone. Then he took us out to Gucci-gu. We got changed and headed over to the performance. We were given lots of gifts by Dano. Did our performance and dogs were bothering us on stage and gave gifts to seniors, Jacq gave Dano the hat. Went to Catholic school and did performance, dogs tried to steal stage. Hung around for a little while and talked to people then we went back and got a ride with Julian to town and it started raining so we stopped and ate dinner, which took like 3 hours. It rained really really really hard. Erica and I got in back of truck and they took pics of us, Julian took us around to the hotels and then helped us settle in. Erica and I took very very very brief showers while Mr. Fielding got water, I almost broke the toilet. Lady came and fixed it. Watched news for a bit, talked, Mr. Fielding and I went out for a walk around Ebeye at night. Saw traditional Marshallese stick dance done to techno music and some kids on the street recognized me form the performance. When we got back to the hotel, Erica and I worked on questions for a little while and then went to bed.
My Journal
Scarred and spiral bound; decorated with great purple mountains and a clouded sky; bearing a single word "Vision".
Within it, coded memories of a three week adventure half-way across the globe are enscribed.
It is difficult to relay in text the interior of this record-keeper, which is laced with numerous hand-drawn maps, notes to self, and unexplainable doodles. I hope this blog sufficiently retells my experiences there and conveys the missions of our project, but more importantly, the inspiration.
