Woke up, cockroach dead in bathroom, I accidently ripped my performance shirt, so borrowed Jacq’s. Attempted to prepare questions for Giff, Erica and I had a little conflict because she decided she wouldn’t ask any questions. We had two performances at the RMI High School, each held about 400 people or so. First was very hard and distracting because of noisy recess kids. Ate lunch with some of the seniors and heard some more stories. Hung out in the office for a while and talked to Gary and saw a mouse named Fred. Gary told us some very interesting stories about Marshallese history and traditional legends. They gave us an outrigger canoe and a star with a shell in the middle signifying the love they held for us. We held an interview with Giff at Coffee Corner. That afternoon I was sweaty and dirty and quite uncomfortable so was in a very irritable mood. Then we went and did a performance at Bikini Town Hall for mayor and others. After we came back to get ready for dinner. Erica got into a 2-millisecond shower when Mr. Fielding said Abacca was coming to talk to us. I was so frustrated that I accident tore another shirt. Interviewed Abacca, then left for Tide Table for dinner with Mayor. John( a Bikinian) did dance at dinner, after we went back, I finally took a shower and we went to bed.
My Journal
Scarred and spiral bound; decorated with great purple mountains and a clouded sky; bearing a single word "Vision".
Within it, coded memories of a three week adventure half-way across the globe are enscribed.
It is difficult to relay in text the interior of this record-keeper, which is laced with numerous hand-drawn maps, notes to self, and unexplainable doodles. I hope this blog sufficiently retells my experiences there and conveys the missions of our project, but more importantly, the inspiration.
